SIMPLE @ ANU

This past week Michael Hughes and I have been in Canberra, at the Legal Workshop, College of Law in the Australian National University, Canberra. We’ve been working with them on pilot simulations, helping them to build the sims, showing them how to resource them, run them and discussing the general educational and technological background to the sims. It’s been a wonderful, intense time over five days, with lots of presentations, lots of pilot planning, discussions of sim learning & assessment with course leaders, IT staff and educationalists. Staff here are so enthusiastic about simulation as a form of learning, and not just SIMPLE, but also another project of ours, the Standardized Client Initiative (http://zeugma/typepad/com/sci). We’ll be continuing conversations from a distance, on the forums here and elsewhere, as we help Gary Tamsitt and his staff to get the pilots up & running. We’d like to thank all staff in the Legal Workshop involved in the week’s activities — Pam Zwickert for her impeccable admin support, course staff Margie, Tony, David, Lynn, Roberta; in the Flexible Learning Unit Aliyah and Alex, and in IT Support, Fiona and Andrew; and of course Gary for the invitation to work with his staff. Michael and I have found the five days nothing short of inspirational.
