Michael and Paul spent the day with Scott Slorach and designers at the College of Law yesterday, training the curriculum designers in the use of SIMPLE. We discussed resource-building, simulation design, and started the process of sim building on the NED (narrative event diagram). The College is using SIMPLE in two simulations on a pilot basis, and if this goes well they will be creating and extending simulations on other programmes in the future. Interesting conversations with the designers about curriculum design and the use of transactional learning. There’s a close similarity between their S-mode (Supervisor mode) and transactional learning. The latter tends to be a more general approach to learning, while Scott’s S-mode is a more particularized version. The pilots will continue till the end of the year, when we’ll draw together data from our evaluations.
