How alerts work

Hi.

I am very confused about alerts. from the name it seems that they are suppose to alert/remind you for specific calender item. but they never worked. i checked alerts table and it is not saving a thing but template calling alerts from alert table.

it is always 'no alerts'

i assumed that if one setup reminder in event, thats going to be saved as alert. am i on wrong track?

guide me in right direction

that's pretty much it. The alert should appear in the right hand box when the reminder time elapses.

In addition when items are received, an alert message should appear in the box as well.
