Hello again,
To install SIMPLE:Platform on my GNU/Linux system (Debian), I followed these instructions:
Whilst these instructions mention the templates_c folder in relation to permission problems related to IIS installations, the same issue affects Apache but no mention is made of this. The templates_c folder must be set to have read/write privileges by the default Apache user. In order to determine the default Apache user, locate your apache2.conf file (typically found in /etc/apache2/), open it and locate the line beginning 'User '. Immediately below this line, there should be another entry for group. Make a note of what these have been set to.
From the command line, type in the following (the chmod expression may not be necessary):
chown <user> $HOME/templates_c
chgrp <group> $HOME/templates_c
chmod 755 $HOME/templates_c
where $HOME is your SIMPLE installation folder (e.g. /var/www/simple), <user> is the value for 'User' in apache2.conf and, likewise, <group> is the value for 'Group' in apache2.conf.
regards,
Jonathan
